The Cervelló Library of the Museo del Prado contains documents related to Spanish artists and among them is a group of unpublished records with biographic and artistic information about Spanish engravers active at the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th. These labels were worded around 1865-68 by Ramón Sanjuanena y Nadal, contributor to the Magazine El Arte en España and involve an attempt of continuation of Ceán’s Dictionary in which living artists were not included. These papers record, for the first time, all information kept in the archives of the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, and anticipate what Ossorio would publish ten years later in his Galería biográfica.
