Abstract

An innovation developed at the School of Biology, National University of Cordoba in Argentina, is presented. The work revalued virtual environments which have writing as their support, aiming at improving reading and writing practices in students. The students indicated that the innovation allowed them to carry out self-evaluation, to communicate with teachers and with other students, to synthesize and apply ideas, and to reflect on ways of expressing concepts in writing. Besides, they stressed the valuable help of concept maps as ways of reorganizing their thoughts.
