This article takes a look at the most prominent women filmmakers of communist Hungary, emphasising both their common features and specificities, in order to highlight their contribution to Hungarian film history. In general, they are transgressive filmmakers, having broken the conventions established by the communist regime and tried to offer a new vision of history, based on their own experience.
