Abstract


Placed under a context of profound economic, social and political changes, the rules and instruments driving the practice of the scientific and technological research have evolved from an internal dynamics to an external one in which the intervention of a great number of stakeholders emerges as a critical factor. These changes have led to new concepts and models such as the mode 2 of knowledge production or the technoscientific model in the organization of the research frame. According to this new context, the ethical dimensions have also changed in their approaches going from an internal point of view (intra-ethics or deontology) to an holistic one (inter-ethics). New challenges are thus arising in relation to the ethical dimensions and processes of knowledge production and its management, an issue that is tackled with a claim to the application of responsibility principles by all the different actors involved in such processes, ranging from the researchers to the evaluators and communicators, from research to results and their transfer to society. A reference to the relevant case of life sciences serves to pinpoint the new situation which in our opinion has to be dealt from a relational ethical approach that we refer as inter-ethics.
