Abstract

The Foundational Law of the Superior Council of Scientist Investigations (CSIC) organized the Council in diverse boards. Among these, the “José María Quadrado” Board was entrusted the co-ordination of Local Studies. This board disappeared during the CSIC re-organization in 1979 and the CECEL was created in order to take on these functions. The history of the Confederation is told of and its own legal status along with the leading organs and its aims are studied; there is also a list of centres that make up the Confederation.
