The appropriateness of including the concept of hysteresis in humanistic disciplines is studied as well as the need to incorporate the analysis of the phenomena in which it participates. Hysteresis occurs in the most diverse fields of human thought and action, and its study would help to complete and refine our view of them. When the inclusion proposed here is made, several changes occur in the epistemological, conceptual and operational orders. In humanities, concepts have traditionally assumed an analytical role rather than one related to the contents upon which the analysis is carried out. Hysteresis demonstrates its scope as a fact to be analysed and also as an analytical tool, but in this case more aspects of the second approach have been considered than of the first. This study, therefore, focuses on the epistemological concept of hysteresis.
