Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explore the implications of non-human agency as a mechanism of ludonarrative interaction in the video game Stray (2022), with the aim of clarifying the interspecies relationships depicted within it. The analysis focuses on determining the dynamics of crossspecies and entity-to-entity connections that are formed between organic and inorganic entities, establishing zootechnical kinships that challenge the conceptual tenets of critical posthumanism in speculative cyberpunk and ahuman contexts. Finally, it is also of interest to delve into the potential consequences that these types of interactions may have on the video game player and their own characterization of agency.
