Abstract

After secular and religious novels, those about the End of Time from Spanish literature’s Silver Age are rounded off with the brief tales genre, which has distinguished authors as Clarín or Azorín among its ranks. The former writes a story which as gone on to be known as Paradise Revisited, while the latter reflects on a meditation, The Last Man on Earth. A third tale, by Blanco Belomnte, is lesser known and bears a resemblace to subsequent sotries made popular by science fiction. The fourth is a brief story by Edgar Neville, in the style of Gómez de la Serna’s sense of humour and aesthetics, and the fifth, by Ángeles Vicente, is as brief, but nore bitter.
